Club Brugge complete Tahith Chong loan transfer from Manchester United after he leaves Werder Bremen
Manchester United, on the club’s website, have confirmed that youngster Tahith Chong has terminated his loan spell with Werder Bremen to complete a transfer to Club Brugge until the end of this season.
The right-winger joined the Bundesliga side in the summer. He featured for the club in 15 games this season, with 13 of them coming in the Bundesliga.
He had 1 goal and 2 assists in that time for the club. Werder lie 11th in the table as of now, 10 points away from top 4. (h/t transfermarkt)
The 21-year-old will now play at Belgian side Club Brugge until the end of the 2020/21 campaign. They are the runaway leaders in the league at the moment, as they sit 9 points clear at the top of the league table.
Belgian delight
If the club maintains their good form, Chong could return to United in the summer with a league winner’s medal as well as valuable playing experience.
Chong has made 16 appearances for the senior team, with most of them coming during the last season. He joined the Red Devils from Feyenoord in the summer of 2016.
The Dutch forward had a message for his former club as he confirmed his departure from Germany.
“It’s been a pleasure to represent this club [Werder] for the last few months. Even though it wasn’t long, I learnt a lot and I leave the club with some great memories and friendships. Good luck for the rest of the season.”
This will be only the second loan spell of the youngster’s career. He would be hoping to impress Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his time in Belgium and push for starts in the next season.
