Solskjaer reassures Donny van de Beek on his future at Manchester United
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has held talks with Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek regarding his future at the club.
Our biggest signing of the summer, the Dutch international got to an excellent start by scoring on his debut against Crystal Palace. He has, however, barely featured since and has been limited to appearances off the bench.
Solskjaer recently admitted that the midfielder continues to apply himself well in training though unhappy with the situation. (h/t The Metro)
The Norwegian has since had a face to face conversation with the midfielder, aiming to address the latter’s concerns. The meeting is said to have gone well.
Van de Beek has been assured that he will get more minutes going into the second half of the season. The Dutchman was in the starting XI that took on Liverpool yesterday night.
The 23-year-old is seen as a long-term signing. The prospect of bedding him in before unleashing him on a regular basis makes perfect sense.
United’s offer of a five-year deal reflects the belief the club has in the Dutchman. He was also assured that he would feature in half of the club’s games this season, something that is yet to be achieved.
There is still half a season to manage that. If Solskjaer is to be believed, there is no reason why Van de Beek will not go on to meet the objective. (h/t The Mirror)

Solskjaer believes Van de Beek is a team player who understands the situation and is happy for the team to succeed, even without him. It augurs well for the team spirit the Norwegian is trying to inculcate among his players.
A key player for Ajax, Van de Beek put in excellent performances week in week out for the Dutch giants. The day may not be far when he does the same in a Reds jersey.
