According to MEN, Manchester United starlet, Ethan Laird has joined Tier three side MK Dons on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old came through the ranks at United. He has made two first-team appearances for the Red Devils so far, both in the Europa League.

A highly-rated right-back, Laird also can double up as a centre-back. Injuries have limited his ability to impress for the club’s Under-23s this season.

The move to Bletchley will see him attempt to get regular senior playtime as he tries to get his career back on track. The player, for his part, is excited for the new chapter and has already met up with his teammates. (h/t MEN)

“I’m buzzing to get started.”

Laird is keen to repay Dons boss Russell Martin’s faith in him. He is keen to leave behind a positive legacy and believes the team’s playing style is catered to suit him.

“I want to make as much of an impact as I can while I’m here.”

Martin too is keen to work with Laird. He went on to confirm that Laird had a number of offers on his table and thankfully chose to go with the one from MK Dons.

“He’s chosen to come here over a number of options, which is brilliant for us.”

Laird could make his debut for the Dons as early as this weekend. The League One side face off against Premier League minnows Burnley in the FA Cup third-round tie at Turf Moor.

Laird is unlikely to be the only young full-back to leave United on loan this month. Youngster Brandon Williams, too, is keen to leave the club in search of regular football.

Hopefully, it will be an educative experience for both players, who will return having learned much from their experience.
