Aston Villa will not entertain bids in January for Manchester United target Jack Grealish
According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa will not entertain any offers for Manchester United target Jack Grealish in January.
The Villa skipper signed a new five-year deal worth more than £100,000 per week in the summer, with a significantly higher buy-out clause. United had an opportunity to land the midfielder last summer but baulked at the West Midland side’s £80million asking price.
The 25-year-old has since taken his game up several notches. With five goals and seven assists in 15 matches, he has been pivotal to Villa’s good start to the season.
His string of good performances have also attracted attention from elsewhere. The likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been linked with a move for the Englishman. (h/t Birmingham Mail)
The Villa owners have invested heavily in the team in recent windows. They remain keen on turning the club into a Champions League outfit and are unlikely to entertain interest in their best talents.
As things stand, Villa are still some way off from breaking into the top four. Given the performances the top sides have put up so far, they do have a chance to spring a surprise or two this season.
Summer is the time!
Whether Villa will change their mind if a lucrative offer comes in during the summer remains to be seen. It would be in line with what United are looking at given Paul Pogba’s situation.
The Frenchman looks set to leave the club next summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains a huge fan of the English international, with the club backed to make a summer move. (h/t The Express)
