Manchester United make Norwich City defender Max Aarons ‘top target’ in January

A report by Express states that Manchester United have made Norwich City right-back Max Aarons as their ‘top target’, and are ‘frontrunners’ in the race to sign him.

United want to tighten up defensively by signing new names, and the 20-year-old right-back is on their list. The Red Devils are reportedly looking to make a move in the January transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have a lot of competition at right-back. United have used Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe, and Brandon Williams on the right-flank in Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s absence.

However, none of them are natural right-backs. United want similar competition for a place in that position as they have at left-back.

The news comes after Manchester United went to 2nd in the table following a win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. An injury-time goal from Marcus Rashford handed United all 3 points on Tuesday night.

A good addition?

And now, the club wants the momentum to continue by spending money in January. Aarons, who is now United’s top target, was linked with a move to North London in the summer. (h/t Express)

However, a move to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal failed to materialize. The 21-year-old already has a wealth of experience under his belt.

Of his 105 senior appearances for the Canaries, 36 came in the 2019/20 Premier League season. It is no doubt that the youngster would add depth in the right-back position, where United have recently struggled.

But United are not the only club after Aarons. Jose Mourinho could move for the youngster again as he is not impressed with Serge Aurier and new signing Matt Doherty.

Nevertheless, the report states that United are still the ‘frontrunners’ in signing the Norwich City youngster.
