Solskjaer not in favour of a two-week hiatus owing to rising Covid cases
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his two cents regarding a potential two-week break as Covid numbers continue to rise.
The Premier League has confirmed 18 positive cases among players and staff in its latest round of testing. It is the highest figure of the season so far.
Manchester City’s clash against Everton was called off on Tuesday after Pep Guardiola’s side saw positive tests. Tonight’s clash between Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur is also in doubt.
“I can’t see the benefit in having a circuit break, whatever it’s going to be called.”
An unenviable schedule!
Solskjaer meanwhile is worried that the break will add further strain to what is already a jam-packed schedule.
United already have the added burden of having to play their Premier League game in hand against Burnley. Moreover, the Carabao Cup semifinals against Manchester City to be held next week could also be rescheduled.
Given the strain the busy season has had on the players, any added burden will only extract more out of them.
“When are we going to play the games? We all know this year is so difficult, but I don’t think stopping the games is going to make a big, big change.”
Doing their part!
Solskjaer also went on to add that the United players have been diligent in following the rules and protocols.
The Norwegian’s feelings on the matter are clear. Whether the Premier League also thinks along the same lines remains to be seen.
