“Different dimension” – Solskjaer reveals the reason behind this half-time substitution vs Wolves

Why Solskjaer took off Alex Telles for Luke Shaw against Wolves

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took off Alex Telles for Luke Shaw in the Premier League fixture against Wolves at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian to his credit did not do too badly in the first half. He saw a lot of the ball and played a rather proactive role. His crosses, however, lacked the usual effectiveness.

According to MEN, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed after the match that Telles was taken off for tactical reasons.

“It was more of a shift in the positions and a different dynamic again.”

Shaw to his credit has looked good since his return from injury. He put in another excellent shift yesterday as United came out on top in stoppage time.

The 24-year-old is not the swashbuckling left-back that Telles is. However, he brought solidity and also provided more of a threat from corners.

Solskjaer admits that the reason was purely tactical

Solskjaer also praised the team’s defensive solidity in denying Wolves all night. Eric Bailly and David de Gea were amongst the best players on the night as United extended their unbeaten Premier League run to nine games.

Solskjaer went on to admit that Telles should be fine with the substitution. If anything, the Norwegian’s tactical tweak did ensure we came away with a win.
