Manchester United and Manchester City to battle it out for Declan Rice

Mark Noble unsure if Declan Rice will commit to West Ham amidst Manchester United interest

Speaking on talkSport (h/t Daily Mail), Mark Noble has expressed his hope that Manchester United target Declan Rice will commit his future to West Ham United.

The 21-year-old has emerged into a pivotal player for the Hammers as they sit just five points off a Champions League spot (at the time of writing). One of England’s best young talents, he has no shortage of suitors.

Rice made his first-team bow for West Ham in 2017. He has since developed into a strong and dominant player capable of playing in midfield and defence.

Manchester Untied are keen on Declan Rice

Noble has no doubt that Rice will continue to get better with experience. With the best years of his career ahead of him, the youngster might prove the Hammers hero a prophet.

“He’s still learning his trade, he’ll get much better with experience. I’m hoping it’s here [at West Ham].”

With Nemanja Matic not getting any younger, United will need to bring in a defensive midfielder to replace him soon. Rice is a more dynamic player than both Fred and Scott McTominay and would be a good fit for our midfield.

The defence has proven to be our Achilles heel this season. Rice’s ability to also do an excellent job in the back four is an added bonus.

An opening for United to exploit?

Noble has however refused to confirm if Rice will indeed commit to the Hammers.

“In this game you never know.”

Despite a good start to the season, the prospect of winning trophies at West Ham is a tad unrealistic. Rice will need to secure a move away if he is keen on winning honours.

Our major rivals in securing the player’s signature will be Chelsea. The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for Rice in recent months.

The midfielder too is said to be keen on a return to the club that released him at the age of 14. Whether Untied will throw a spanner in the works remains to be seen. (h/t Mirror)

Rice has shown excellent leadership and has often led from the front. This has led to him being touted as a future England captain by Noble.
