Amad Diallo to choose between two squad numbers as Manchester United transfer nears completion
According to Norwegian journalist Fredrik A Filtvedt (The Express), Amad Diallo is set to make a choice between two squad numbers as he nears a move to Manchester United.
United agreed to sign the teenage wonderkid from Atalanta on summer deadline day earlier this year. Diallo is due to arrive on English soil in January to complete the deal.
One of the best young talents to come from Atalanta in recent times, United could end up paying as much as £37million for his services.
According to the report, Diallo will sport either the No.19 or No.79 for the club. He is currently working on his English and will initially spend time with the club’s U-23s.
It is a path that Uruguayan youngster Facundo Pellistri has taken since joining us in the summer. Being eased into the first-team will help the youngsters adapt to new surroundings and expectations.
Diallo is held in high regard by his teammates at Atalanta. Club captain Papu Gomez went as far as to compare the youngster to Lionel Messi. If he turns into half the player the Argentine is, United have a great player on their hands. (The Express)
United have been long-term admirers of the player and have tracked him since 2016. They first became aware of his abilities during his time in the Under-15s.
Diallo made his first-team bow for Atalanta in the Serie A last season and promptly went on to score on his debut. In doing so, he became the first player born in 2002 to score in the Italian top-flight.

United signed four players on summer deadline day. While the likes of Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles will take the headlines for now, both Pellistri and Diallo could become familiar names in the coming years.
