Chevrolet could sponsor Manchester United to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

A report by Auto Esporte (h/t Daily Mail) claims that Chevrolet, the shirt sponsor of Manchester United, could finance the move if the club wants to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

Ronaldo is an icon at Old Trafford, having won 3 league titles, 3 domestic cups, one UEFA Champions League trophy, and the first of his now 5 Ballon d’Ors.

He made 292 appearances for the club and scored 118 times before leaving for Real Madrid in 2009. He left the Spanish club after 9 years to join Serie A giants Juventus in 2018.

However, reports now claim that Ronaldo may be on his way back to Old Trafford, with Juventus suffering the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Andrea Pirlo will save up on the £28m-a-year wage of Ronaldo and can recoup much of the £100m the Serie A champions paid for his signature in 2018.

Ronaldo will turn 36 next February but remains very much at the top of his game, having scored 10 times for Juventus in 9 games this season. Moreover, he is one of the biggest names in sports history.

Forbes magazine listed him as the only footballer to earn over £1bn in his career, and Juventus’ stocks rose 30% over Milan’s stock a week after his move in 2018.

Seeing the marketing advantages of the deal, Chevrolet want to cash in on the transfer by making a smart business move.

Ronaldo still has a few years of football left in him, and he can provide the instant impact that United need to get back on their throne again.

Ronaldo can help the Red Devils reclaim their stature on and off the field, and can have a lasting impact on the club’s future in terms of bringing the attention of the world back to Old Trafford.
