Manchester United and Thomas Tuchel share a mutual interest in replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
A report by the German outlet BILD (h/t Mirror) states that Manchester United are keen on getting Thomas Tuchel to Old Trafford as they look to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The report also goes on to say that Thomas Tuchel is also interested in the job at Old Trafford.
Tuchel got the better of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when PSG beat Manchester United 3-1 on Wednesday in a decisive UEFA Champions League game.
However, the failure to win the Champions League title last season, coupled with the possibility of an early exit in this year’s competition, has made Tuchel’s job at Parc des Princes come under increasing scrutiny. (h/t Mirror)
At Manchester United, the club has long been looking at Mauricio Pochettino as the replacement for the Norwegian.
Ole’s job has come under further threat after the 3-1 defeat to PSG on Wednesday at Old Trafford, which was another low point in United’s already shaky start to the season. (h/t Mirror)
With Pochettino now rumoured to be in line to replace the under-fire Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, United are reportedly lining up Thomas Tuchel as an alternative. (h/t Mirror)
Tuchel has won back-to-back Ligue 1 titles with Paris Saint-Germain and has guided the club to the top of the table this season.
Tuchel saw his team lose to the dominant Bayern Munich in the final of the UEFA Champions League last year, but that went on to highlight his pedigree at the top.
Pochettino had an excellent stint with Tottenham Hotspur, but the Argentine never won a trophy with the Lilywhites.
If United are to replace Solskjaer at Old Trafford, a manager with the trophy-winning pedigree of Tuchel would surely be a good option.
