Thomas Tuchel praises Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes
Speaking in a press conference (h/t Manchester Evening News) before the UEFA Champions League match against Manchester United, Thomas Tuchel singled out Manchester United stars Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford to offer them praise.
Manchester United face a struggling Paris Saint-Germain tonight at Old Trafford in a game which could see the Red Devils ensure qualification from the group if they avoid defeat against the Ligue 1 champions.
PSG find themselves in a tough spot and would need results elsewhere to go their way if they are to progress to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Both Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes were on target when Manchester United beat PSG 2-1 at Parc des Princes earlier this season to boost their chances of qualifying for the last-16 from Group H.
Thomas Tuchel singled out both the goalscorers from that day and started off by praising the 23-year-old striker’s efforts both on and off the pitch.
“The last two performances from him [Rashford] against us have been annoying. He’s a very young adult who takes his responsibilities on and off the pitch very impressively. I’ve met him three times as an opponent and every time I meet a nice, humble and calm person.
Tuchel went on to clarify that he is aware of the threat that Rashford brings to the table and that he was happy seeing a player like him come through the youth ranks at a big club like Manchester United.
Speaking about Bruno Fernandes, Tuchel added that he was one of the key players at Manchester United and PSG would need to find a solution to the threat that he offers.
“It’s impressive because he had a great influence at Manchester United from the first minutes, it’s exceptional. He has always improved also in terms of his personality. He has always taken responsibility on the ground. We will try everything to find solutions against him. He’s one of the key players…”
Manchester United face PSG in the Champions League tonight before travelling to West Ham United on Saturday for an important Premier League fixture.
