Manchester United starlet James Garner opens up on long term future
According to a Q and A session relayed by Hertfordshire Mercury (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United starlet James Garner has opened up on his long-term prospects.
The young midfielder is currently on loan at Championship side Watford. The Hornets were relegated from the Premier League last season.
The Hornets are currently in the second spot and could be on course for a quick return to the top-flight. Garner has been a regular feature for the side, having played in 10 Championship fixtures so far.
Garner was asked about the chances of him staying at Vicarage Road beyond the current campaign. He expanded on where he sees his long-term future.
While the youngster refused to commit to staying, he also raised the prospect of him being unaware of his chances at United.
“I don’t know what the situation is going to be for me when I go back to United.”
For now, Garner is happy at Watford and has enjoyed his time at the club so far. He has raised the hope of finding success with Watford and then making a decision once the time comes.
“Hopefully we will be successful this season and then we’ll see what happens.”
Garner is amongst our promising batch of youngsters coming through the ranks. According to an earlier report, United’s decision to choose Watford was based on the assurances given regarding Garner’s development.

To date, Garner has gone on to feature seven times for the senior team. The defensive midfielder is held in high regard at the club. First-team star Fred chose Garner as his pick of United’s youngsters currently at the club.
Whether he does indeed make it at the Theatre of Dreams remains to be seen.
