Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confident that Mason Greenwood has learned a harsh lesson
According to the Mirror, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Mason Greenwood has learned a harsh lesson due to his antics.
The Norwegian has however gone on to defend the young attacker against charges of being unprofessional. He categorically denied that Greenwood was given a talking to regarding his professionalism and punctuality.
“I think Mason learned a harsh lesson this summer, of course.”
The United boss did admit that Greenwood knows he is now under more scrutiny than ever. Especially after he was sent home from England duty in disgrace last month.
Greenwood and Phil Foden were axed from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for breaking Covid-19 protocols by sneaking women into the team hotel in Iceland.
“When you do well at Manchester United, you’ll be under the spotlight, whether it’s good or bad.”
Solskjaer has represented United with distinction as a player. He believes a certain standard of ethics has to be followed while representing a club such as Manchester United.
“We have a great record and tradition and history of bringing our players through. That means from early on you get good habits, we trust you, you can express yourselves.”
Solskjaer, however, remains wary of Greenwood placing a target on his back with his antics. As for his absence against Newcastle United and PSG, Solskjaer revealed that the player was nursing a niggle.

Greenwood is a prodigiously talented player who has an excellent upward ceiling. He should be making news for what he does on the pitch than off it.
Hopefully, that will be the case in the future.
