Fiorentina reject loan offer from Manchester United for Federico Chiesa
According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have had a loan offer for Federico Chiesa rejected by Fiorentina.
United have been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho throught the summer. Borussia Dortmund, however, are holding firm on their asking price and the deal does not appear to be progressing. (h/t The Telegraph)
With just days left before the window closes, United are now looking around for alternatives. Chiesa is one such player. (h/t The Telegraph)
Their efforts to take the player from Fiorentina have gotten them nowhere. The Viola are not keen on loaning the player out. Italian champions Juventus are also keen to sign him permanently and are ready to offer £45m for his services. (h/t The Telegraph)
The 22-year-old has built up a reputation as one of the most promising wingers in Serie A. He made 37 appearances for the Viola last season scoring 11 goals and 9 assists.
A versatile attacker capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, he would give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a number of options.
Chiesa is also a cheaper alternative compared to Sancho. According to earlier reports, Fiorentina were seeking £62m for their talented attacker.
An experienced star despite his age, Chiesa has played 152 first-team games, scoring 34 goals and 25 assists in that time. This also includes an impressive hat-trick against Roma in a 7-1 demolition in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals last year.
It remains to be seen if the reason for making a loan offer is an intention to rekindle interest in Sancho in the next transfer window. With time running out, the prospect of us signing him in the next few days look extremely unlikely.
