Manchester United tipped to make a move for Caglar Soyuncu
Speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Express), former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes Manchester United should make a move for Caglar Soyuncu.
The young Turk has impressed since joining Leicester City in 2018. Alongside Jonny Evans, the duo formed a solid backline that put the Foxes in contention for a top four spot last season.
Ironically, it was the departure of Harry Maguire to United that gave Soyuncu the platform to excel.
And, Cascarino now believes the Red Devils should bring the Leicester star to Old Trafford to partner Maguire. The duo played thrice together during their time at King Power stadium. (h/t Express)
“I think he would sit alongside Maguire brilliantly.”
While Maguire has added more steel to the United backline, the lack of pace in defence has been a major source of concern.
A pacy player, Soyuncu will add just that to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rearguard. The United backline has come in for criticism after conceding five times in our opening two Premier League fixtures. (h/t Express)
“I think they should go back to Leicester again and try and get the boy Soyuncu. He’s really quick.”
Low likelihood?
With Leicester having strengthend this summer, they will present a proper challenge in the race for top four. In fact, the Foxes have won all their games in the league so far.
The prospect of them selling one of their key players this late in the window appears unlikely.
Alongside Jamie Vardy, Soyuncu was one of two Foxes stars to be nominated for the 2019/20 PFA Team of the Year. At just 24, the youngster sure has a promising career ahead.
