Manchester United reach an agreement with Alex Telles

According to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), Manchester United have reached an agreement with transfer target Alex Telles over a transfer from FC Porto this week.

However, the Red Devils still remain locked in negotiations with the Portuguese giants over a transfer fee for the 27-year-old. (h/t Express)

Telles has been with FC Porto for four years now, having joined from Galatasaray in 2016. Over the years, the Brazilian international has grown into a key member of the team.

Despite being a left-back, Telles plundered 13 goals and 12 assists in the 2019/20 campaign. And he has started the new season on a strong note as well, scoring two goals in two games.

Manchester United have been linked with a swoop for the one-cap Brazilian international for a while now. And as per the latest update, the club have reached an agreement with Telles over a move. (h/t Express)

Telles has been dropping subtle hints on social media over the possibility of a switch to Manchester United. The left-back most recently liked a post by compatriot Fred following the Red Devils’ win against Brighton & Hove Albion. (h/t MEN)

But with a fee yet to be agreed with Porto, the deal is still not over the line. However, it is being claimed that the club has a backup plan ready in case they fail to sign Telles. (h/t Express)

Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams are currently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s options at left-back. However, the former’s injury record and the latter’s lack of experience warrants the addition of a new left-back.

Given how things have been going in the window so far, let’s hope Ed Woodward & co. are able to get the deal over the line at the earliest.
