Leeds make loan approach for Manchester United star Daniel James
According to Sky Sports, Leeds United have made a bid to sign Manchester United winger Daniel James on loan for the 2020/21 campaign. However, the Welshman has told the club that he wants to stay and fight for his place.
James joined Manchester United from EFL Championship side Swansea City last summer. And the winger made an explosive start to life at Old Trafford, scoring on his debut.
The Wales international went on an impressive run for the first couple of months of the campaign. However, his form declined as the season wore on, with James losing his place to Mason Greenwood in the second half of the season.
The 22-year-old started United’s first game of the season against Crystal Palace, but was poor on the night. He was an unused substitute in the cup tie against Luton Town, while James was completely axed from the squad for the Brighton game.
Leeds United had tried to sign James from Swansea in January last year but a move fell through. They remain interested in signing the winger and have stayed in touch with Manchester United over the possibility of a transfer. (h/t Sky Sports)
However, James has informed the club that he wants to stay put and fight for his spot. But, that situation may change if Manchester United bring in a new winger before the window closes. (h/t Sky Sports)
Manchester United remain in the hunt for Jadon Sancho. And should they be able to clinch his signing, James’ situation will be reassessed by the club. (h/t Sky Sports)

James’ form has declined since his electric debut. However, given the current lack of options in the attack, it would be foolhardy to let him join a rival club on loan.
