Sevilla drop out of the race for Manchester United target Sergio Reguilon
According to the Express, Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Sergio Reguilon.
The 23-year-old Real Madrid star spent last season on loan at Sevilla. His performances caught the eye and he played a key role in the La Liga side’s Europa League success.
Sevilla have now dropped out of the race for the defender and are seeking other options elsewhere. This will have opened the door for United to make their move.
United are well aware of his prowess having faced in at the semifinal stage of the competition. Reguilon gave Aaron Wan-Bissaka a hard time and set up Suso for his side’s equalizer that night.
The Red Devils are keen to bring in competition for left-back Luke Shaw. The Englishman has improved but continues to struggle with injuries.
While Brandon Williams has been trusted to be his backup, the youngster looked out of his depth when facing strong opposition.
Adding Reguilon would give us much-needed dynamism on the flank. Adept at both ends of the pitch, the Spaniard is surplus to requirements at Real.
A no-brainer?
According to the report, not only is the player available but can be brought at a relatively modest £25million. Given the fee Chelsea paid for Ben Chilwell, Reguilon can be signed on for a snip.
Bringing in a player such as Reguilon would add more quality while also boosting our strength in depth. With Champions League football back on the table, it is imperative that we have a dependable squad of players to count on.
Reguilon has also garnered interest from Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea. (h/t The Express)

The report goes on to add that United are the only side capable of paying Real’s asking price for the defender.
Reguilon has shown that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. Having proven himself, it remains to be seen if he will continue to develop into a world-class left-back at Old Trafford.
