Transfer boost for Man United as PL rivals are ready to cash in on 23-year-old star for £45m

West Ham United ready to cash in on Manchester United target Issa Diop

According to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Star), West Ham United are ready to sell Issa Diop, who has been attracting attention from Manchester United.

It will come as a boost for United, who have long been linked with the 23-year-old defender. Diop joined the Hammers in 2018 and has since made 73 appearances for the club. During this time, he has scored five goals.

United went big and brought in Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka last summer. Despite the improvement, the Red Devils still lack the defensive solidity needed to compete at the top.

This is especially true when it comes to the centre-back pairing. Maguire’s lack of pace and speed on the turn has seen him get caught out numerous times.

Bringing in a new pacy centre-back is on the club’s agenda. Diop could be the answer if the club decides to pursue him.

West Ham were initially reluctant to part ways with their star defender. However, they have now had a change of heart.

According to the report, the Hammers are ready to sell if their £45million valuation of the player is met. This represents a drop in the £75m mooted just over a year ago.

Diop is also keen on a move. He believes it will help him compete for a spot in the French national team. United will, however, face competition from two Premier League sides, one of them being Chelsea.

Diop is a talented player who has the potential to be better than those already at the club. The Frenchman is an excellent athlete and a towering presence in the air.
