Manchester United keen on Alex Telles
According to Portuguese publication Correio da Manha (h/t Mirror), Manchester United are keeping tabs on Porto full-back Alex Telles.
The Brazilian could become the latest success story from Portugal. The club had earlier brought the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo Nani and more recently Bruno Fernandes.
The Red Devils are keen to reinforce the full-back positions. Despite Luke Shaw stepping up his performances, Brandon Williams at this point of time is a raw talent. It could prove to be problematic using the youngster, especially in the Champions League.
Telles, on the other hand, is a vastly experienced player who has impressed since joining from Galatasaray in 2016. He has since made 192 appearances for Porto.
Capable of playing anywhere along the left flank, Telles is an impressive force going forward. He has scored 24 goals and a mind-boggling 55 assists, predominantly playing as a left-back. His runs upfield will add another dimension to an already prolific United frontline.
According to the report, the 27-year-old will cost United around £25m, a decent price for a player of his quality.
With Telles in the last year of his contract, Porto are open to selling him. Not doing so could see them lose him for free next summer.
The Red Devils will, however, face competition from both Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. The former lack a dependable left-back and have made it a key priority to reinforce the position this summer. (h/t Mirror)
With Champions League football secured, United will need strength in depth to compete on multiple fronts. Telles would be a worthwhile investment for us this summer.
