Manchester United open talks for Monaco youngster Benoit Badiashile
According to the Spanish publication AS (h/t Express), Manchester United have opened talks with Monaco youngster Benoit Badiashile.
The 19-year-old Frenchman is considered to be the next Raphael Varane. He made his debut for the Monaco senior side last season and has since amassed 46 appearances since. During this time, he has scored one goal and one assist.
La Liga champions Real Madrid are also in the fray for the highly-rated 19-year-old. German side Bayer Leverkusen are also keeping tabs on the 6ft 4in giant. (h/t Express)
According to the report, United have already begun negotiating a deal for the youngster. Badiashile could be available for around £27million.
United are keen to bring in a defender to play alongside skipper Harry Maguire. Although Victor Lindelof has improved, he has at times proven to be a liability rather than an asset.
Maguire too has found himself in trouble due to his lack of pace. Bringing in a pacy partner alongside him could help solve that issue.
Badiashile is not the only Ligue 1 defender the Red Devils are keen on. United are also keeping tabs on LOSC Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Brazilian star is a left-footed, pacy defender who has seen his stock rise at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. The player’s agents are already in England with Everton also keen on securing him.
Badishile, on the other hand, has been a long-term target for United. The Red Devils were keen on the youngster since the time of Jose Mourinho. (h/t Mirror)
The 19-year-old also has competition of playing at the highest level. He made two appearances in Monaco’s 2018-19 Champions League campaign.
