Manchester United plotting swoop for PSG’s Idrissa Gueye
According to a report from Le10 Sport (h/t Birmingham Live), Manchester United are lining up a summer move for PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye. He is also a target for Premier League rivals Wolves.
The 30-year-old Gueye joined PSG only last summer, from Everton, and has grown into a key member of the team in Paris. He featured 32 times in his debut season in France, scoring one and setting up two goals.
Gueye played the entire 90 minutes on Friday night as PSG beat St. Etienne to lift the French Cup 2020.

The Senegalese international’s performances have attracted the interest from Wolves. And now, Manchester United too have joined the pursuit of the 30-year-old. (h/t Birmingham Live)
The report claims that while there is no approach made by the Red Devils for the former Everton and Aston Villa star yet, the club will make an offer as soon as the transfer window opens for business on Monday.
Manchester United’s midfield unit has been performing exceptionally in recent games. With Nemanja Matic performing the defensive duties, it has allowed Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes to express themselves freely.
In addition, Scott McTominay and Fred have been largely impressive when they have come into the team as well. Hence, the interest in Gueye does come as a surprise, more so considering that the club handed Matic a new contract recently.

Matic will need to be phased out of the side slowly given his age. But bringing in another player who is 30+ wouldn’t make much sense. Signing someone younger, who can learn from the Serb and then replace him in the long run would be more prudent for the club.
