Man United teenage starlet set to join Championship giants

Manchester United academy defender Ben Hockenhull to Championship club Brentford

According to MEN, Manchester United academy starlet, Ben Hockenhull is on his way to join Championship side Brentford.

The young defender has joined Brentford’s reserve side on a two-year deal after United had extended his contract to December.

The 18-year-old joins the Bees, who fell just short of automatic promotion to the Premier League. Having finished third, they will now take part in the Championship playoffs.

Hockenhull was praised by Neil Macfarlane, the coach of Brentford-B. He was more than happy to see the youngster join his side.

“He’s fantastic on the ball and in possession, and with us being a possession-based team, that will stand him in good stead.”

Brentford believes they have signed a player with a high ceiling and are excited about seeing him develop at the club. Macfarlane went on to praise Hockenhull’s character, while also complimenting him for his drive to improve and do well.

“Ben is very level-headed and has got real drive and passion to do well at Brentford.”

United have in recent windows focussed on bringing in the best young talents from across the world.

With the quality on offer increasing, it is evident that not all players will make the cut at United. Some may have to look elsewhere and it appears to be the case with Hockenhull.

The youngster is clearly held in good regards by the Brentford management. We hope he succeeds at Griffin Park.
