Manchester United defender Eric Bailly discharged from hospital
According to MEN, Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly has been discharged from the hospital following his injury.
The Ivory Coast international was stretchered off with a head injury in the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals. He suffered a cut on his head when he collided with teammate Harry Maguire, needing lengthy treatment on the sidelines.
He was eventually taken off and shifted to the hospital. According to the report, Bailly could miss the match against West Ham United.
The defender’s absence played a crucial role in us conceding the opener before the break. Solskjaer too touched upon the topic and agreed that his side looked comfortable with the 26-year-old on the pitch.
United have a number of centre-backs either injured or unavailable. Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are injured while Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo are out on loan.
It remains to be seen if youth team captain Teden Mengi, who has been training with the first-team, is drafted into the squad for the Hammers clash.
United do, however, have Maguire and Victor Lindelof to see us through. The duo has predominantly been sued as our first choice pairing this season. The latter, however, does have the tendency to lose focus. The issue was brought up by Solskjaer when he spoke about Giroud’s opener.
A constant issue
When on song, Bailly is one of our best defenders. The problem, however, has been in keeping him fit. He has missed 62 games for the club since joining us in 2016. This accounts for more than three-fourths of his total appearances, 83. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Ivorian has made 10 appearances this season. With him now out of the hospital, the hopes of him returning for the all or nothing match against Leicester City looks promising.
