Manchester United are closing in on a contract agreement with Angel Gomes
According to a report from The Athletic, Manchester United are edging closer to reaching an agreement with academy star Angel Gomes over a new contract.
The 19-year-old Gomes is in the final month of his contract with the Red Devils. Negotiations over a new deal have been held, but the two parties haven’t been able to arrive at an agreement, with regular game time being a major concern for the youngster before penning a deal.
This had seen him get heavily linked with an exit. Our rivals Chelsea had emerged as the major contenders for the 19-year-old’s signing on a free transfer.
However, as per the aforementioned report, there has been progress, albeit slowly, with the teenager now edging closer to signing a new contract.

The report adds that the youngster has been heavily involved in training since the return from the coronavirus hiatus. This seemingly has convinced him that he will be used more frequently by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer moving forward.
If true, this is great news for the club. Gomes may not have been involved a great deal at the first-team level, but his potential is undoubted.

The 19-year-old made his debut for us way back in 2017, aged just 16. He also led England to the U17 FIFA World Cup triumph the same year.
Hopefully, Gomes follows in the footsteps of Tahith Chong and pens the extension in the coming days.
