Wolverhampton Wanderers ready £54million bid for Carlos Vinicius

According to Birmingham Live, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to launch a bid for Manchester United target Carlos Vinicius.

The £54million bid, if it goes through, will make him Wolves’ record signing ahead of star striker Raul Jimenez.

Vinicius has enjoyed an excellent season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He has scored 20 goals and 12 assists in 36 appearances so far. His performances have drawn much interest from England with Liverpool also keen.

Wolves were keen on bringing the player to the club last season. The deal was dashed after Vinicius faced issues regarding his work permit.

He is currently contracted to Benfica until 2024 and has a release clause worth £88million in his contract. With the football world in the midst of a financial crisis, it remains to be seen if they sell him for a lower fee.

Marcus Rashford is the first-choice striker at United. Odion Ighalo has now extended his stay at the club till January 31, 2021. Although Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood can play up front, they lack the same impact a specialist has.

Signing Vinicius will offer us another dependable option to bring on if needed or play two up front if needed.

The 25-year-old began his career as a central defender before progressing up the field. Having played as a striker for the first time just three years ago, the Brazilian has gone on to make a name for himself up the pitch.

United failed to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez last summer. With the Chilean’s future at the club in doubt, injuries could leave us outnumbered up top.

Signing an infallible scorer will offer us many more options going forward. Whether that player is Vinicius or not remains to be seen.
