Twitter reacts to Jesse Lingard #MUFC moment
Jesse Lingard is a player who divides opinion among the Manchester United fan base.
The youth product is a versatile player who yoyos between the sublime and the ridiculous. It is a matter of much frustration among the fans that he cannot find a consistent run of good performances.
The club’s official Twitter account revealed what the player thought to be his best Manchester United moment.
Unsurprisingly, he chose the 2016 FA Cup final. Playing against Crystal Palace, United fell behind to a Jason Puncheon goal in the 78th minute.
Juan Mata hit back after three minutes to draw us level and send the game into extra time.
Lingard proved to be the hero as he thumped in the winner in the 110th minute to send the red section wild. It was the club’s first trophy in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and it was an academy product who brought it home.
Fans, however, were not too pleased with the player’s video and called for him to be sold in overwhelming numbers.
Lingard is not the best footballer out there. Neither does he pretend to be. It is true that we should indeed be aiming for players of a larger pedigree.
That does not, however, take away from the fact that he wrote his name into United and FA Cup history in 2016.
