Arsenal in contact with Manchester United target Moussa Dembele
According to the French publication L’Equipe (h/t Metro), Arsenal have entered the race for Manchester United target Moussa Dembele.
The Gunners have also gotten in touch with the player’s entourage as they hope to steal a march on their rivals. The French ace has also been courting interest from Chelsea.
The North London giants are in real danger of losing star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. The Gabon international is yet to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal and has attracted interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Gunners were earlier linked to the player last year upon uncertainty emerging in Aubameyang’s future at the Emirates. This has seen them scout the player numerous times this season.
Dembele isn’t just a prolific scorer. His experience of already having played in England eases concerns about his ability to adjust if brought in.
Having started off at Fulham before going on to impress with Celtic in the SPL, he has made more than 150 appearances for both the clubs on this side of the channel.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at the Groupama Stadium and has scored an impressive 22 goals and 7 assists in 42 appearances.
Signing the player is easier due to Lyon’s current financial state. With no European football to offer next season, club president Jean-Michel Aulas has openly admitted that he might have no choice but to sell his stars.

In spite of Arsenal’s interest, their ability to fork out the £60million asking fee could be a bridge too far for the Gunners.
Arsenal is a team in decline. It is difficult to see what they can offer him that we cannot.
Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled this season and are at the risk of missing out on Europe altogether. Combined with this, their financial woes, one cannot see them outbidding us to Demebele if it comes to that.
