Manchester United suffer a setback in Jonathan David pursuit
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have been pegged back in their pursuit of Canadian wonderkid Jonathan David.
The 20-year-old has been earning rave reviews for his performances for Belgian giants Genk. Having grown up in the Canadian capital, David made the foray to Europe in 2018.
His performances since have made some of the biggest clubs on the continent sit up and take notice. The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are all keeping tabs on the youngster. (h/t Express)
Unfortunately for us, David believes the Bundesliga is a better fit for his talents.
“The league that would suit me the most right now is the Bundesliga.”
He believes that the German league is similar to the Belgian one, albeit at a higher level with more competition. It is clear that the player has put in some thought regarding his future and has come to a satisfactory choice that suits him the best.
He is keen to make a name for himself in Europe. David had this desire as a driving force behind leaving Canada. It’s worked out well so far.
An attacking midfielder by trade, he is also capable of playing a variety of positions. He has gone from strength to strength at the Cristal Arena. David has noticed up an impressive 23 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Capable of also playing as a striker, David’s abilities would have added a lot to our attack.
It appears he now has his heart set on a move to Germany. At just 20, there is no reason why he cannot end up at United somewhere down the line. If the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rebuild goes as planned, he might very well be joining the best team in the land.
