Corentin Tolisso is open to moving to Manchester United
According to French publication Le 10 Sport (h/t Express), Corentin Tolisso is not averse to moving to Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window.
The French World Cup-winning midfielder has seen opportunities hard to come by under Bayern boss Hansi Flick. Tolisso has made just 12 appearances under Flick, playing the whole 90 minutes just twice.
With Paul Pogba’s future up in the air, United are looking at a number of options to add in midfield. According to the report, the club has tasked former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique to take charge of the transfer.
Interest in the player is high with Arsenal, Napoli, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid all keen on the player. United look to have made the first move as Henrique is already in contact with Tolisso and his representatives.
The 25-year-old is keen to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer. Bayern is unlikely to stand in the player’s way. The Germans are keen to use the fee obtained for selling the Frenchman to fund the move for Leroy Sane.
Tolisso joined Bayern from Lyon in 2017 for an initial €41.5million fee. This was at that time a club and league record.
He enjoyed a fruitful first season before injuring his cruciate ligament in 2018. He missed the best part of the next six and a half months and has since fallen down the pecking order (h/t Transfermarkt).
Fitness a concern
Injuries have never let him prosper at the Allianz Arena. He has missed 46 matches in his three years in Germany and has made just 68 appearances, scoring just 14 goals and 12 assists.
He was once again missing through injury this weekend as the Bundesliga resumed after a two-month absence.
Although his ability is not in question, his fitness leaves much to be desired. United will do well to ensure he goes through a thorough medical if we decide to proceed with our interest.
