Manchester United set to rekindle Corentin Tolisso pursuit
According to the Express, Manchester United are set to rekindle their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso.
The 25-year-old joined the Bavarian giants in 2017. He enjoyed a promising first season before injuring his cruciate ligament in 2018. He went on to miss the best part of the next six and a half months and has since fallen down the pecking order.
The French World Cup-winning midfielder has seen opportunities hard to come by under Hansi Flick. Tolisso has made just 12 appearances under Flick, playing the whole 90 minutes just twice.
A change of view!
He has become frustrated by his lack of game time and is keen to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
According to the report, Bayern will not stand in his way as they look to offset the cost of signing Manchester City star Leroy Sane.
A move to Old Trafford can gain traction if the player proves his fitness. Having undergone an operation to repair ankle ligaments last month, the Red Devils are not willing to take any chances.
United was keen on bringing in the midfielder in January. However, Bayern was in no mood to entertain offers. Four months on, their stance has softened.
We will, however, have to beat off competition from the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli, and Atletico Madrid, who are all keen on the Frenchman.
Injuries have prevented him from prospering at the Allianz Arena. He has missed 45 matches in his three years in Germany and has made just 68 appearances, while scoring just 14 goals and 12 assists.
The Red Devils strengthened their midfield with the addition of Bruno Fernandes in January. Tolisso at 25, still has his best years ahead of him and could be a solid addition to our squad.
