Sancho joined Dortmund from our rivals Manchester City in the summer of 2017. During his time with the German outfit, the England winger has grown into one of the most coveted youngsters in Europe.

The 20-year-old has produced brilliant numbers this season, bagging 17 goals and 19 assists in 35 matches across all competitions. This has put him firmly on the radar of our club, with Sancho being eyed as Manchester United’s primary transfer target heading into the summer.

However, former Dortmund midfielder Freund has claimed that a big-money move at the time might not be appropriate at this moment. (h/t Evening Standard)

“I think Sancho is on the way to being European class but it will be three years before he is at his best.”

Freund further cited Sancho’s performances against some of the bigger teams like Bayern Munich and PSG this season, stating that the England international was almost invisible against them. (h/t Evening Standard)

“Against Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, it was as though he was not on the pitch. In those matches, you want him to make a big difference. ”
