Odion Ighalo’s trainer makes claim amidst striker’s uncertain future

Ekemini Ekerette, the trainer of on-loan Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo, has claimed that the Nigerian would love to stay at the club for the rest of his life, as questions arise over his future at Old Trafford. (h/t Mirror)

Ighalo arrived at Manchester United on the deadline day of the winter transfer window. Signing on loan from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua, the 30-year-old made instant impact at Old Trafford.

So far, Ighalo has scored four goals in eight matches across all competitions at Manchester United. This had prompted manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to claim that the club were considering making his transfer permanent.

Ighalo’s contract with Manchester United will expire in a matter of weeks. And his parent club want the striker back in China before the start of their season. This has cast doubts on his immediate future at the club. (h/t Mirror)

Ighalo, though, wishes to stay at Manchester United for the rest of his career, his trainer Ekemini Ekerette has now claimed. (h/t Mirror)

“He wants to stay and loves United, Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and the fans and he would love to be a Red for the rest of his life.”

Ekerette also admitted that Ighalo was enjoying playing with the likes of Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood, before insisting that the Nigerian was itching to share the pitch with Marcus Rashford. (h/t Mirror)
