Ed Woodward promises Manchester United will be competitive in transfer market
According to MEN, Ed Woodward has promised that Manchester United will be highly competitive in the transfer market. He has, however, added that the club will not be immune to the effects of the shutdown.
United were linked with a number of high profile moves before the season was suspended. Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Harry Kane were some of the names doing the rounds. (h/t MEN)
Speaking at the United fans forum last weekend, Woodward revealed that the club is committed to backing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market.
He has, however, stressed the need for clarity, with the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming window.
“It’s always a top priority for us to strengthen the team and build on what Ole is very clearly achieving in terms of bringing us back to the top”
With the current season in limbo, what happens next is anyone’s guess. United have bought well in recent windows and will look to keep the hot streak going.
The additions of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire considerably strengthened our defence. Welsh winger Daniel James has added some much-needed pace up front.
Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo joined the project in January to further beef up our attack. The Portuguese has proved to be just as advertised and is yet to lose in United colours.
Ighalo, on the other hand, has repaid United’s faith in him by making up for the absence of star striker Marcus Rashford.
One player who will definitely not be making a move to Old Trafford is Harry Kane. The Spurs star is valued at a mammoth £200million, prompting Woodward to declare that the speculation disregards the reality we face today.

United have continued their upward trajectory under Solskjaer. The club, however, is still lacking when it comes to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City. Hopefully, this window will help close that gap even further.
