Manchester United look to come out on top in the race for Federico Chiesa
According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United are among a host of clubs keen on Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa.
The English powerhouse are set to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he plans to strengthen the squad. The Norwegian is keen to bring in a right-winger in the upcoming window.
One of the players being linked is Italian hotshot Federico Chiesa. The 22-year-old has built up a reputation as one of the best wide men in Serie A. He has made 26 appearances for the Viola this season and has scored 7 goals and 5 assists.
Chiesa will not come cheap and is valued at an impressive £60million. He still has two more years to go on his contract at Fiorentina. He has also drawn interest from Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan.
Money talks!
A major disadvantage could be the player’s preference to stay put in Italy. However, the report claims that he could be tempted to move to the Premier League if he is offered a substantial wage package.
Chelsea too are in the running for the winger and could prove to be a hindrance in our efforts to bring him to the Premier League.
Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has already admitted that the club will not stop the player from moving if their asking price is met.
Still only 22, he has garnered considerable experience, having played 139 first-team games. Chiesa has scored 29 goals and 20 assists in that time. This includes a hattrick against Roma in a 7-1 demolition in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals last year.
