Paul McGrath rules out Jack Grealish transfer to Manchester United

Former Manchester United and Aston Villa star Paul McGrath believes that there is no chance that Villa skipper Jack Grealish will move to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has led from the front in his first season in the top-tier. Although struggling to stay afloat, Grealish has shone with nine goals and eight assists in 31 appearances.

Grealish’s performances have seen him linked with a move to United. That looked to be in doubt after his ill-advised move to defy the lockdown put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

His show of ill-discipline does not seem to have put off Ole Gunnar Solksjaer who is still keen on working out a deal. This is not the first time Grealish has been reprimanded for ill-conduct and it remains to be seen if club officials still deem him worth the trouble.

Speaking on the issue during an Instagram Q and A (h/t Metro), McGrath believes that the transfer is a no go.

Grealish’s antics have come in for criticism from former Arsenal star Ian Wright.

He has stated that he hopes the player realizes the enormity of his error. His actions were unbecoming of a professional footballer who is a role model to society.

Ironically, Solksjaer had commented on the need for football stars to step up and use their influence as public figures for the good of society. Grealish too has expressed his regret at his decision and has vowed to learn from his mistakes.

Villa confirmed that Grealish had been fined for his behaviour and revealed that the money would be donated to the University Hospitals Charity in Birmingham.

The Englishman is undeniably a good player who can another dimension add to our squad at Old Trafford. His ability to get into trouble is a concern. It remains to be seen if the club sees him worth the baggage.
