Robin van Persie urges Manchester United to sign Edinson Cavani
Manchester United icon Robin van Persie believes the club should make a move for Edinson Cavani in the summer transfer window, according to Sportsbible (h/t MEN ).
“I would definitely go for Cavani.”
The report goes on to say that manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is intent on bringing in a striker on a permanent basis in the summer. Cavani is one of many names under consideration.
The Uruguayan was close to moving to Old Trafford in January but PSG demanded £25million for the transfer to go through.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, United stand a chance of signing him for free in the summer.
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are thought to be leading the race to sign him, but Van Persie believes United should beat them to the Uruguayan.
The former Dutch star quoted the 33-year-old as a goal machine. Cavani proved his goalscoring prowess in stints at Napoli, PSG and internationally for Uruguay.
“He lives by scoring goals so I’d go for him.”
Describing him as a very fit player, Van Persie believes United are guaranteed 25 goals a season, provided he starts.
