Manchester United offered Nemanja Matic to two Serie A giants
Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail) claims that Manchester United offered Nemanja Matic to Inter Milan and AC Milan.
The Serbian hasn’t featured regularly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season with Scott McTominay getting the nod from the manager.
However, the report claims that both Italian clubs decided against signing the Serbian due to his wage demands.
The 31-year-old is out of a contract in 2020 and it is unlikely that he will get a new deal from the Red Devils (h/t Daily Mail).
The end of the road for Matic?
Matic was a decent signing for us under Jose Mourinho. The Serbian was one of the best defensive midfielders during his time at Chelsea, but he has regressed over the past 18 months or so.
McTominay is doing a great job in the middle of the park.
It will be interesting to see if a club comes calling for Matic in the winter window, but we could keep him as we don’t have a lot of experienced cover for McTominay in the position.
Matic could be handy in some of our cup games, and our European campaign will take a toll due to all the travelling.

The Serbian’s legs have also gone it seems and a move to the Italian league would have been the best for the midfielder.
