Real Madrid demand £430million from United for Raphael Varane
Manchester United have been told to splash out £430million by Real Madrid for the signing of Raphael Varane, according to The Sun.
Acquiring a centre-back turns out to be one of the priorities for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this Summer, with players like Harry Maguire and Varane on United’s transfer radar.
The 26-year-old Frenchman endured a contrasting season with the Los Blancos as he failed to replicate the success he had at World Cup 2018.
Varane was an integral part of Madrid since joining them in 2011 and played a pivotal role in their Champions League-winning spree.
The former Lens player has already crossed 200 appearances as a Galacticos player and has a contract until the end of the next season.
Varane’s price tag is a hefty one
While adding a defence partner to Victor Lindelof appears to be important for the Red Devils, it has to be done at minimal risks.
Though the French defender is highly rated at his position, paying out his entire release clause would be absurd and United can opt for alternatives.

Kalidou Koulibaly is another defender who United have been keeping tabs on. The Napoli centre-back is one of the sought-after players after an impressive season under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Senegalese man would be a valuable addition and can help Solskjaer build a strong squad ahead of his first ever full season as the Red Devils manager.
