Man United line up Tottenham’s Eric Dier to replace Nemanja Matic
Manchester United are considering a move for Tottenham midfielder as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to replace the ageing Nemanja Matic, according to Metro.
The Serbian midfielder is already in his 30’s and doesn’t look like a viable option for the club’s long-term future.
Matic has been at the heart of United’s midfield over the past two seasons since his move from Chelsea. However, he has shown signs of rustiness at times due to high work rate and the lack of proper back-ups.
Given this, the Norwegian manager wants to pounce on English midfielder Dier, who has been the backbone of Mauricio Pochettino.
The 25-year-old missed out a major part of the season owing to surgery, playing only 20 matches in the Premier League.
Having risen through the ranks of Portuguese outfit Sporting CP, Dier opted to move to the Premier league in 2014 and hasn’t shown any signs of stopping since then.
How will Dier fit into Solskjaer’s playing 11?
The English international’s versatility, his never-say-die attitude are some of his key attributes that will make him an assured starter under Solskjaer. In addition, Dier comes with a wealthy amount of Premier League experience.
