Edinson Cavani has chosen La Liga as his next destination
Manchester United have been dealt with a transfer blow as their prime target Edinson Cavani is likely to end up at Atletico Madrid (h/t The Sun).
The PSG striker has been heavily linked with the Red Devils and fellow Premier League club Chelsea over a summer move.
Now, the Uruguayan has cleared his stance that he will be heading to La Liga should Diego Costa seek an exit. Costa has fallen down the hierarchy of Diego Simeone and could leave for China this summer.
Cavani, 32, continued his brilliant run of form in the recently concluded season, racking up 23 goals and 5 assists across all competitions.
However, a serious injury forced him to miss a string of matches including the Champions League round of 16, where the French club got knocked out by United.
The former Napoli star played a huge role in Thomas Tuchel’s side ending up as the winners of Ligue 1.
United’s striker conundrum
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is currently on the quest for attacking reinforcements after concluding a lacklustre debut season.
Romelu Lukaku’s form turned out to be a major concern and a new striker is the need of the hour at Old Trafford.
