The Red Devils are planning a major overhaul this summer after enduring a lacklustre season, which saw them losing their Champion League spot.
Firpo, 22, was a revelation for the Spanish outfit in the recently concluded season, racking up three goals and five assists across all competitions.
Despite being a Dominican-born footballer, Firpo will represent Spain in the upcoming European U-21 championship.
He is tied with Betis until 2023 and United are ready to shell out as much as £26.4million to bring him to Old Trafford.
How will Firpo fit in United?
Luke Shaw, United’s first choice left-back, certainly punched above his weight this season, eventually winning Sir Matt Busby player of the year award.
The English international turned out to be one of the positives for the Premier League outfit, bagging a goal and 5 assists and was praised for his work rate.
However, the 23-year-old showed signs of fatigue owing to the injury woes and the lack of back-up options.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to add a competitive full-back, who can offload the pressure off Shaw and provide competition for the 23-year-old to sustain his place in the team.
