Man United want to sign Thomas Partey as a potential replacement for Ander Herrera
Manchester United are considering a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, according to the Daily Star. The Red Devils are keen to trigger the Ghanaian’s release clause of £43.5m.
Party has been in the heart of the midfield for the La Liga giants over the years. As far as this season is concerned, the 25-year-old has bagged 3 goals and 4 assists across all competitions.
An academy graduate of Atletico, Partey broke into the main team in 2015. Since then, he has played more than 100 matches. The midfielder also had his successful loan spells at Mallorca and Almeria.
He has also earned 17 caps for Ghana and bagged 7 goals that include a hat-trick against Congo in the World Cup qualification match.
United to bolster the midfield
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is in need of reinforcements as Andre Herrera is set to part ways this Summer.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian manager is aware of Nemanja Matic, who is at his twilight. And last summer’s signing Fred has turned to be a flop for the Red Devils.
Considering all these aspects, Solksjaer must recruit Partey, who can breath new life into United’s midfield in the upcoming season.
