Belgian World Cup star responds to transfer links with Man United and other European giants

Thomas Meunier calls United an exceptional club

Manchester United received a transfer boost as PSG full-back Thomas Meunier dropped a massive hint on a possible summer move to Old Trafford, according to the Scottish Sun.

The Belgian international has fallen down the pecking order of Thomas Tuchel since the arrival of Dani Alves.

Speaking about his future, Meunier insisted the Red Devils are such an exceptional club to play for (h/t The Scottish Sun).

“At the level of rumours, I am quoted everywhere. Only beautiful clubs are named. Man United, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund. These are just exceptional clubs.”

The 27-year-old has played 30 matches this season, bagging 5 goals and three assists.

The former Brugge player also had a fantastic stint in the FIFA World Cup 2018 as he played a key role in Roberto Martinez’s side finishing third in the competition.

Notably, Meunier set up the deciding goal scored by Chadli to eke out Japan in the knockouts.

How will Meunier fit in Solksjaer’s side?

Despite being ostracized for most of the season, the Belgian right-back never looked out of sorts as he gave his very best whenever he got the chance.

Meanwhile, at United, Ashley Young had a lacklustre campaign and his second-choice Diego Dalot didn’t have the best of the chances to prove himself.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is in need of a complete full-back who can inspire the Red Devils to Premier League glory next season and Meunier fits the bill given his experience and stats at the club level.
