Man United keeping tabs on CSKA Moscow’s Mario Fernandes

Manchester United are closely watching CSKA Moscow full-back, Mario Fernandes, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 28-year-old is also on the radar of fellow Premier League clubs Manchester City and Chelsea alongside La Liga giants Barcelona.

Fernandes has been brilliant for the capital club, racking up a goal and 6 assists in more than 30 games this season.

He played a huge role for the FIFA World Cup hosts last year and the notable moment came when he scored an important equaliser in the quarter-final against Croatia. However, he later botched up a penalty in the shootout, which led to his side’s defeat.

United’s need for a right-back

A key reason for the Red Devils’ slump turned out to be the lack of full-back strength. Ashley Young, United’s preferred right-back, was criticised for his lacklustre display while Diego Dalot wasn’t productive with his restricted playing time.

Given this, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer needs a high-profile right-back who could influence United in the upcoming season. Fernandes certainly fits the criteria and would be an absolute coup should the Norwegian manager able to bring him to the Old Trafford.

The Russian international rightly balances his play between the attack and defence, and is known for his work rate. The Former Gremio man’s wealthy amount of experience would be an added advantage for the Red Devils.
