Man United considering a big move for Lyon Striker Moussa Dembele
Manchester United are plotting a £40million move for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to the Sun. The French striker is touted be the replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Dembele’s breakthrough season at Ligue 1
Upon moving from Celtic prior to this season, the French youngster had a great impact with Les Gones, bagging 18 goals and 4 assists across all competitions.
The former Fulham youngster also scored in the dramatic win against Ligue 1 Champions PSG earlier this year. The 22-year-old is currently the League’s fifth highest goalscorer, trailing Brazilian star Neymar.
Dembele also represented France at various age levels and has scored 11 goals in 19 matches for the U-21 side.
United looking to reinforce their attack
After going through an underwhelming campaign, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to strengthen his side in every aspect.
The Norwegian manager’s primary objective is to rejuvenate United’s attack after witnessing Romelu Lukaku’s poor run of form this season.
The 26-year-old clearly struggled from the start and was often sidelined due to the injury concerns. Moreover, Lukaku has been linked with a move to Italy this summer.
And Solskajer wants a young striker in place of the Belgian and Dembele looks like an optimistic option.
The Frenchman’s daunting pace combined with precise finishing technique and deadly nature inside the box would allow him to lead the attack with Marcus Rashford and Martial.
