Manchester United plot sensational summer swoop for Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United are plotting a sensational summer swoop for Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon. (h/t Calciomercato)
The Portuguese international, 34, who has won three Champions League titles in succession with Real Madrid and appeared in eight consecutive semi-finals, will end his first year at Juventus with only the Serie A of note as his side was dumped out of the Champions League by an exciting Ajax team.
And following Ronaldo’s exit with Juventus from the Champions League, Manchester United appear serious to bring him back to Old Trafford and have already spoken with his agent, Jorge Mendes. The Reds are ready to offer Juventus €130 million for the 34-year-old superstar. (h/t Calciomercato)
Ronaldo to return back to Old Trafford?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted after the defeat at Barcelona in the Champions League that it’ll take years of work to reach to the top. United are eyeing a massive summer overhaul, with Solskjaer targeting as many as five fresh faces in the summer.
Indeed, the two legs against Barcelona showed a clear gulf in class and quality between both sides. Despite a brilliant start to his reign in charge of our club, Solskjaer is now facing the prospect of finishing outside the top four, though he is still expected to be backed heavily in the summer transfer window.
But I clearly don’t see our club breaking the bank to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. It clearly doesn’t make sense as the Portuguese superstar is 34 and even though he’s going strong, won’t make us title challengers straightaway next season.

The process of rebuilding the squad will take time and Solskjaer should recruit players that fit his system. And in his system, I clearly don’t see Ronaldo fitting in.
