Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira impressed in the pre-season games last year. The 23-year-old started the first 2 games for the Red Devils under Jose Mourinho but has since started just once. The Brazilian started his first match under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær in United’s 2-2 draw against Burnley but failed to impress. He was left out of the squad for United’s trips to Leicester and Fulham in the following weeks.
Andreas Pereira signed for Manchester United in 2011 after impressing Sir Alex Ferguson in the Manchester United Premier Cup. Several English clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal were interested in the youngster but the United boss convinced him to sign for the Old Trafford club.
Andreas Periera scored his first senior goal for the Red Devils under Louis Van Gaal after coming off the bench in their pre-season tour against San Jose Earthquakes. He scored his first competitive goal for the club in their League Cup clash against Ipswich with an incredible free kick.
The Brazilian spent the next two seasons on loan in the La Liga with Grenada and Valencia. He scored 5 goals for Grenada in 35 appearances for the club and earned praises for his performances. He featured 23 times for Valencia and scored thrice before returning to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Pereira opened up about his future after facing the axe against Leicester City. He revealed that he had talks to move to Brazilian club Santos in the recently concluded January transfer window. The 23-year-old’s contract is up in the summer and Everton should make a move to sign the Brazilian this summer.
Andreas Pereira’s versatility will add value to any team he ends up with. He can play anywhere across the midfield and on both wings. His preferred position though is as a number 10 where he can control the game. Pereira is quick, agile, brilliant on the ball and can get away from defenders using his skills and trickery.
The Brazilian is excellent on the dead ball too and is renowned at the club as one of the best free-kick takers in the squad. Despite being as technically gifted as he is, the 23-year-old still needs to improve on his passing, finishing, and physical aspects of the game.
Everton are heavily reliant on Gylfi Sigurðsson for creativity down the middle. The addition of Andreas Pereira will surely reduce the Iceland international’s burden and his versatility will allow him to play in the same team as Sigurðsson either in midfield or on the flanks.
Pereira can learn a lot under Marco Silva like compatriot Richarlison has and can make a name for himself as one the top young talents in the league. Everton will be able to pick him up for free in the summer if they do make a move and it’s one they should seriously consider.
