Manchester United will wait till the summer to land Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, according to the Metro.
The report adds that the Senegal defender is keen on a switch to Old Trafford and United have identified the 27-year-old as their priority transfer.
United have struggled in keeping the goals out this season, and the pairing of Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling haven’t been all that great.
Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have also struggled to perform consistently. The report adds that United would ideally have wanted to sign Koulibaly in January, but Napoli are firm in their stance and won’t let the centre-back leave in the winter window.
The defender signed a new deal in 2018 but the Italians know it will be difficult to keep hold of the player. The report adds that United would have to bid a world record fee for a defender to sign the 27-year-old.
The Red Devils could bid £90m (h/t Metro) to get their man and the report adds that there could be some additions to the United team in the winter window.
Koulibaly is one of the best in the world, and there is no doubt he would make our defence better. It will also be interesting to see who partners him at the back, should he join.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done a great job as the boss so far, and a real test is on the horizon when we visit Tottenham at the weekend.

Our target has to be a top-four finish given the great start that Solskjaer has had, and hopefully, we can get one over Mauricio Pochettino’s side on Sunday.
